Existing Boil Advisories
The LPWDN has issued boil advisories for the following areas:
- LPWDN North Region
- LPWDN South Region
- LPWDN West of Scott Region
- LPWDN Wilderness Trail Region
- LPWDN Production Facility Region
- LPWDN LaNeuville Holiday Subdivision Region
- LPWDN Holiday Mobile Estates Region
- LPWDN Fairway Village Region
- LPWDN Guillot Estates Region
The individual boil advisories can be found on the Alerts page from the LPWDN’s website (https://lpwdn.com/alerts).
Boil advisories are rescinded only after samples are collected throughout the individual regions and submitted to Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (LaDHH) for analysis. The laboratory analysis takes a minimum of 24 hours to complete. In discussions with LaDHH, since water system pressure issues have not been resolved as yet, collection of the samples will not begin until Monday, January 27, 2025, assuming system pressures have stabilized by that time. If that is the case, results should be received on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. If the results pass the analysis, the boil advisory can be lifted. Each of the regions listed above is considered a separate system with LaDHH and it is possible that one region’s results pass and another region’s results do not. Rescinding a boil advisory requires that all samples from that particular region pass the LaDHH test. If a boil advisory is rescinded, it will only be for the specific region where all samples passed. An ALERT will be sent out when an individual region's results have passed and the boil advisory can be rescinded.
Thank you for your patience.

LPWDN's Production Facility located on LaHwy 1252 in the northeast area of the Parish is back online. Crews have been onsite since early this morning and have resolved the electical relay issue. The storage tanks onsite are filling and pressure at the plant continues to rise.
Thank you for your patience while the LPWDN works through these extreme weather related issues.

BOIL ADVISORY
For Immediate Release
PWS Name: LPWDN South Region
PWS Id No.: 1055156
Date: January 23, 2025
The Water System has experienced problems with our water supply system from the extreme weather conditions.
The customers impacted include the entire LPWDN South Region area as indicated on the attached map. Click here to view map.
Because of these problems, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality. Therefore, as a precaution, the Water System is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Water System. It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one-minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
The Water System will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from our water supply system have shown our water to be safe.

The following was received from LUS on the evening of Wednesday, January 22, 2025 regarding wholesale water customers:
Update to the current LUS water situation.
Right now we have “pinched” multiple gate valves (10) on our wholesale meter assemblies (effecting multiple wholesale customers), we have also closed service connections to LUS residential customers registering leaks on our smart meters. In the morning, LUS is bringing all water production, treatment, and distribution personnel in to work an extended shift. Tomorrow we will continue to close service connections to leaking customers, continuously adjust gate valves on wholesale meter assemblies (to balance sending out as much water as we possibly can while also prioritizing Lafayette’s critical infrastructure and regional emergency facilities), and have our team of Water Production Mechanics & Technicians rework the Gloria Switch water plant in an attempt to turn both wells 24 and 26 on simultaneously.
LUS has experienced lower than normal system pressures since last Sunday night, and we have been operating at maximum capacity since then, producing well over 30 MGD. All wells are on, all high service pumps are on, there are no secret buttons to push or snap of the finger fixes. The LUS system is at its limit, our reservoir towers/tanks are empty/depleting with no opportunity to refill them due to the current demand/pressures. Experience tells me tomorrow will be the toughest day for us all to get through, I ask all of our wholesale customers to make attempts to find and isolate leaks on their systems (both municipal and private); spearheading this will be critical in how long it takes for the “combined systems” to return to normal. I am expecting, once the high demand period is over, for it to take up to 7 days to see typical operating conditions return.
As we all know making these decisions is never easy, I can tell you that the adjustments made this afternoon (with the exception of north of I10) has allowed the LUS system to “stay afloat”. System pressures for LUS are now in a much better situation (although extremely low compared to normal), and we have made it out of the evening draw and see pressures continue to climb. With that knowledge, I have 2 field crews out right now (10 PM) braving the cold/ice to further open the gate valves on the wholesale meter assemblies going from 40% open to 65%. I expect by morning for your customers to see relief in the hopes that everyone obtains some sort of water service. Tomorrow our goal is to continuously make adjustments to keep the “LUS Fabacher Field” pressure point above 25 psi, while giving our customers as much flow as we can.
