In accordance with EPA and LaDHH requirements, the LPWDN has prepared an initial inventory of service lines in each of its PWS regions. The service line is the line connected to the water system's main line leading to the water meter box (owned by the LPWDN) and the line from the water meter box to the home (owned by the customer). In September of 1988, water systems were banned from using lead pipe for service lines so any service lines installed after that date are considered lead-free. Construction drawings, contracts between the LPWDN and the Lafayette City Parish Government for operations and maintenance, courthouse records indicating substantial completion dates for construction of the water systems, subdivision records indicating dates of subdivision approvals, and discussions with operations personnel were used to determine when service lines were installed after the September 1988 lead ban date. The initial inventory for each of the LPWDN's various PWS Regions can also be viewed by clicking the links below.
